Simanga Sithebe

Simanga has worked in civil society organisations for over thirty years – both as a practitioner and a leader.

His experience includes designing and implementing: youth programmes; human relations and communication processes; organisation building and development processes; training in negotiation and mediation skills; NGO management and leadership development programmes.

Simanga’s practice is underpinned by the educational and developmental philosophies of Paulo Freire, Steve Biko and Julius Nyerere. He brings deep knowledge of the South African context and can work in IsiZulu and English. He also has a strong connect to Tanzania (his Kiswahili is improving all the time).

Simanga believes that differences and conflicts are opportunities to learn about each other and bring about transformation in our society. Our role as OD practitioners is to design processes that enable this.
